Beach Day

The beach is truly one of my favorite places. It doesn't have to be sunny for me to go. I love the beach in pretty much any weather, well maybe rain. I live in Florida so, it's pretty hot in the summer time, especially on the water. Cloudy days are sometimes a bit cooler but don't let that fool you, the sun's rays come right through the clouds. Always wear your suncreen.

I've been shopping around and found the cutest beach stuff for a day relaxing in the sand. These are sponsored by shopstyle collective and I'm thrilled to share them with you. I'll do my best to keep these up to date and find new products as these sell out. I hope you enjoy them.

The first thing you must have for a day in the sun is sunscreen. No need to buy anything expensive. Make sure what you use says "Broad Spectrum" on it. What this means is that it protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Use something on your face specifically for faces and don't forget your lips. The SPF in your sunscreen means that you can stay in the sun that many times longer than you would with no sunscreen. For instance, if you normally burn after being in the sun for 10 minutes and you choose an SPF 30, then you can stay in the sun 300 minutes or 5 hours before you burn. Now, keep in mind that you sweat and swim at the beach. Be sure to reapply after a few hours and after you get out of the water. (Being an esthetician, I tend to preach a bit about sun protection.)

By the way...if you haven't tryed Sun Bum, you will LOVE the smell!

Next, you need a big floppy hat to protect your scalp and give some extra protection to your face. It will also help cut down on the some of the glare form the sun so it's not so bright for your eyes.
I love a floppy hat, the bigger the better!!! Maybe that's my southern heritage coming out.

And of course, you will want the cutest swimsuit coverup! Depending on which you choose, your coverup could offer a bit of protection while you're wear it.

I usually bring a couple beach towels along. I like to have one that stays in the car so I have a clean towel to dry off on or sit on for the ride home. Another think I do is fill a gallon jug with water to clean my feet off with before getting back into the car.
Anyway, about the towels....I use one on my chair or to lay in the sand and another for a pillow. These are some super cute ones that I found.

A great beach bag is mandatory for carrying all your stuff to the seaside.

Don't forget your drinks. Hydration is important and you'll want ice cold drinks on the hot beach. Bring along an insulated bag, a small cooler or a big one with wheels.

And lastly you might want a comfy chair to sit in so you're out of the sand. Choose one that's easy to carry, unless you're driving on the beach.
